Don't be fooled though, we have found that this is the best way for attendees to relax and enjoy our specialised environment whilst maximising their learning with our method of tuition. Experience the unique ambience and class atmosphere of the Art Trail Centre. The workshops are fun, and run at a lively pace to achieve a completed painting within two hours. You and your friends will be amazed with your results and we hope you will join us again on other events or courses . The Taster workshops additionally provide you with the opportunity to purchase an Art Trail Centre gift voucher for that special person of your choice. Perhaps you would like to bring a friend with you. Fewer gifts give greater value than the memory of a wonderful art class! Other specific course offers may only be available at a 'Taster' workshop. If you wish to book the next Course with us whilst, or after attending the Taster workshop we'll say thank you and give you a £10 discount on the Course tariff. To help us help you during the two hours to achieve the workshop painting, please always ask if you need more assistance. MANAGE YOURSELF - MANAGE YOUR BODYHow do we know if we are eating enough Iron in our meals each month? The same goes for Calcium (for bone protection) Fibre,( to avoid constipation) Vitamins (A to strengthen sight) C (to support the immune system, ligaments and tendons) to name just a few, Vitamin E (helps brain, bladder, prostate and skin issues)and I don't have enough space to tell you all about D,B complex and minerals and the other benefits to protecting your body that are not mentioned above! Your body is the only one you have, and as we get older the more we need to take care of it by feeding our cells with the right things. Guess what! You don't need to read all the details on every packet, or add them up yourself either. Did you know that not only is there a programme that works it all out for you at the press of a button, but you can use it to sometimes check on your foods, or more regularly to gain more out of life with extra energy, less fatigue and maybe even a sharper brain...... I had no idea that this was all so important, until I spoke to several people who enjoy their foods at both extremes. Some who have fibromyalgia, migraines and chronic fatigue, and others who are fit, slim and energetic in their lives and thoughts too. On using this free computer friendly tool, you will be able to see for yourself what you are doing and decide what needs changing, if anything! I am also able to give you four wonderful sites that help with delicious recipes, some contact numbers that may be useful in the future and I will include a tasting of several things you might like. The muffins are on me! Book now, limited places..... Something for everyone coming up very soon.... I know it's not art but please take a look, it will be fun too! keep up to date with any of our latest news on this link... |

TASTER SPECIALA great 'Taster' workshop for newcomers to the Art Trail Centre, providing full professional group and 121 tuition as part our Art with Class series. All necessary paints, paper and brushes with studio equipment, are available for use in this workshop. Tea and coffee will be provided. These introductory workshops are recommended for all. You may be completely new to art, a 'rusty returner' or you may just be in need of inspiration. Perhaps, you have always wanted to try watercolours without the inconvenience of buying equipment and materials for a one off introductory session. Unlike our courses, all our Watercolour Tasters use the same format and the attendees complete the same subject matter. If you book the next Course with us whilst, or after attending the Taster workshop we'll say thank you and give you a £10 discount on the Course tariff. We appreciate your feedback! To help us help you during the two hours to achieve the workshop painting, please always ask if you need more assistance. Art society members would be better suited to our other events or joining one of our courses to improve their skills and techniques. Conditions apply click to view |

Successful Art Series -PAINT ITALIAN COLOURS IN WATERCOLOURincluding all materials, use of equipment and refreshments SESSION TIMES 4.5 hours 9.30 am – 12.00pm LUNCH BREAK please bring yourself a packed lunch,. Session 2 - 12.30 – 2.00pm DESCRIPTION- The Italian coastline is dramatic with its steep rocky declines that fall to the shore, and softly pretty with the colourful buildings and flowers nestling together on the edge. The Italian lakes have the same feel. This scene that has been chosen will inspire you to look for more, and the methods used can be adjusted to create many a similar scene. New colours and controlled washes make this workshop suitable for all tastes, as much can be learned along the way, as always. BENEFITS - This workshop conveys light. Learners will experience the subtleties of light colours, and a light touch to enhance their existing skills. DETAILS - After a short explanation of the scene the effects of one or two new colours will be shown to the class. Then we step into the scene, building the block areas together, viewed via the large screen. Several brushes will be needed for the completion of this painting , and most of the washes will be high key, high chroma and high value. TECHNIQUES - . Some basic easy drawing. Glazing (colourful washes) |

Successful Art Series -DRAWING TO PAINT (D3) mixed media including all materials, use of equipment refreshments and mount aperture SESSION TIMES 4.5 hours 9.30 am – 12.00pm LUNCH BREAK please bring yourself a packed lunch. Session 2 - 12.30 – 2.00pm DESCRIPTION Well chosen subjects, good designs and careful composition make good paintings. The key to moving a drawing into a painting is to understand what works and what doesn't’t before committing to paint. Trying out your colour scheme in a drawing first can save a lot of expensive paper and time. Join me in using both drawing tools and watercolour paints to re-create an already well composed monochrome landscape into sensible but fun colours that always work. If you feel you are not competent in already doing this, you need to be here . BENEFITS - This workshop will give you a method to use on new ideas, and confidence to strengthen weak designs. You will see how to make drastic changes to previous failed landscape paintings. Did I hear you think that you don’t have any? DETAILS - We will be using monochrome designs of existing paintings, (supplied) together. In addition to many dry drawing tools, we will be involving washes of watercolours at various stages of the day. TECHNIQUES will include mark making in line drawing and crosshatching, blocking in, washes and glazes using watercolours. |

Successful Art Series -PAINT TO IMPRESS! IN ACRYLICSincluding all materials, use of equipment and refreshments SESSION TIMES 61/2 hours Session 1 9.30 am – 12.30pm LUNCH BREAK please bring yourself a packed lunch session 2 - 1.15 – 4.00pm DESCRIPTION If you have ever wondered how artists get a few blobs and smears to look like people, this workshop is FOR YOU! Don’t be fearful of this subject. Acrylic is one of the best mediums to try painting in the impressionist style. It was not called impressionism for nothing, that is exactly what it does.....creates an impression of things with minimum detail and hey, it also impresses others! It all started In 1874, when art critic Louis Leroy visited an exhibition (which included work by Monet) and poked fun of the style, saying the works were just ‘impressions’ of things. The rest is History, take note. Things take time....... BENEFITS - This workshop will help you to loosen up (which will also help you loosen up in other media too), be more careful and help you to look before you paint. DETAILS - After a short demonstration on how we plot the scene onto canvas, off we go , placing bold areas of colour together using the large screen for easy viewing. A colourful and interesting backdrop makes this scene easy to apply this style, ie. If things go slightly wrong no one will understand what it was supposed to be anyway. Impressive uh? I am always on hand as some of you know, to get you out of a mess if required, to leave all your admirers wowed with your efforts. TECHNIQUES Blocking in, with some knife painting. Impasto (thick paint) on final layers Materials provided Canvas and all paints, brushes and knives are included for all learners. please bring some newspaper to place your canvas on when you take it home. |

From HB pencils to charcoal , coloured pencils or crayons, What do you enjoy drawing with? Are you a detailed worker, do you prefer making broad statements for fast results or do you wish you could improve what you already do? For beginners or not, all will enjoy drawing with a variety of dry media with me (supplied) in this workshop. Great for exploring safely under guidance for a finished piece. BENEFITS - This workshop will enable you to create future drawings with more confidence. Using drawing tools that you may or may not have tried before, you will find a medium, style or mix that you enjoy which can then be developed upon. Learners will also find out what they may wish to buy, or what to steer clear of! DETAILS - After a concise demonstration via the large screen and using a simple reference, we will draw step by step together in a variety of tools. Many drawing tools will be provided but If you have your own set of something that are not seeing daylight then bring them along to use also. TECHNIQUES will include line work, scumbling, broad sweep areas and some blending of colours. Watercolour pencils. Inktense, oil pastels, pens ....the list is open ended..... |

A complete change from a standard landscape, this workshop incorporates a few figures, loads of colour and some water too. Enjoy painting this tranquil scene . An interesting building is peeking out in the background and we will be painting step by step together using the large screen as usual. BENEFITS - Learners will soon realise that larger puddles make for easier washes. This workshop incorporates strong design elements which may give you new ideas of your own in the future. Sailing Barges at low waterInspired by romantic Pin Mill in Suffolk and the likes of Edward Seago this classic scene captures both, in a calm scene of moored and moving Thames sailing barges. Enjoy creating new textures and effects with me by combining oil pastels and watercolour paints - . My Grandfather used these barges for transport so it’s about time I painted them with you! As usual, use of the ‘live’ in-house video teaching aids will make this step by step a walk in the park. Or should that be a sail up the river?
